How to Use PowerPoint

Setting Up Google Scholar for Off-Campus Use

Using Google Scholar from on campus at NECO will bring up the library's electronic holdings.  If you want to use Google Scholar from off campus, however, you will need to follow these simple steps:

1. Go to Google Scholar and conduct your search.

2. Click the down arrow in the upper-right corner; choose Settings.

3. In the list on the left, choose Library Links.

4. Search for New England College of Optometry.  When it comes up, select it and click Save.  This will bring up NECO's electronic holdings when you search.

To see if the library owns the item in print, or to request an article we don't own either electronically or in print: click on More under the article title, and then Find at NECO or request.

How To Share an Article Link

When you're reading an article online, you may want to email the link to yourself (or someone else) to continue reading it at a later time.  Unfortunately, with licensed content, this is not as simple as copying the URL from your browser bar.  If you want to email a link to library-licensed content, the steps vary according to the publisher hosting the content.  Below are some of our major publishers, and the steps you must take in order to email an article link:

Ovid:

1. Click on the article.

2. In the upper right corner, click on "Email Jumpstart" and copy the URL.

3. Add http://ezproxynco.flo.org/login?url= to the beginning of the URL, and you are ready to email the link.

Elsevier/ScienceDirect:

1. Click on the article.

2. At the top of the page, click "More options..." then "E-mail Article."

3. Send the article to yourself.  You're not done yet, however!  In order to view it from off-campus, you must add http://ezproxynco.flo.org/login?url= to the beginning of the URL.

Informa, Wiley, and Nature:

1. Click on the article.

2. Copy URL from the browser bar.

3. Add http://ezproxynco.flo.org/login?url= to the beginning of the URL, and you are ready to email the link.

For other publishers, look for something called a "persistent link" or "permalink" associated with the article.  You are often able to email the article right from the publisher site, but remember that you must add http://ezproxynco.flo.org/login?url= to the beginning of the URL in order to read it from off campus.
